LOCAL MP AT OLYMPIC TORCH PARADE
Local MP Caroline Spelman joined the thousands who lined the streets of Solihull town centre on Sunday July 1st to see the Olympic torch pass through on its way to the Games.
She said: “I had a wonderful time watching the Olympic torch relay. Everyone was full of enthusiasm. This was truly an event that brought together the whole community from all over the Borough. Mark Rogers, Chief Executive of Solihull Council, spotted me in the crowd watching the parade and came over to have a chat. I also met up with Police Superintendent Sally Bourner and several of our councillors. We all agreed that it was a very happy as well as historic occasion with a great carnival atmosphere. I am glad that the weather was on our side after so much rain. Now I hope that the Olympics later this month will be a huge success.”
