Local MP Caroline Spelman this week joined the HS2 Select Committee on their visit to Solihull, to walk the proposed HS2 route and meet with local residents.
The Select Committee has now begun the process of scrutinising almost 2,000 petitions submitted by individuals and groups for the HS2 Hybrid Bill.
Caroline commented, “The site visit was an important chance to point out how we are affected to the select committee members who will hear our local petitions. This time they concentrated on the spur to Birmingham and the way it affects Castle Bromwich, but next time they will examine the section south of Birmingham International.”
All of the petitions submitted by local individuals and groups from Solihull have been accepted by the Committee. The process of scrutiny has now begun. Caroline submitted her own petition calling for compensation for blight caused by construction works.
