Great British High Street Awards 2014

A new scheme has been set up for 2014, run by the Future High Street Forum of the Department for Communities and Local Government, to promote the revitalisation of British high streets. The Great British High Street Awards have been launched to promote high streets as great places to visit and use business as a method of building healthy communities.

Local MP Caroline Spelman has welcomed new figures showing that the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in the Meriden constituency has fallen by 760 over the last year, with employment up overall in the West Midlands by 81,000 since 2010.

Caroline visits school for skipping workshop

Local MP Caroline Spelman recently visited pupils at Lady Katherine Leveson Primary School in Temple Balsall to hand out prizes as part of a skipping rope fitness workshop.  

Local MP and residents put their petitions in for HS2 Bill

Local MP Caroline Spelman and local residents in the Meriden constituency have delivered their petitions to the HS2 Hybrid Bill Select Committee. Caroline put forward a petition to address the current lack of compensation for the many residents who will be blighted by over five years of construction works across the Meriden constituency.  The deadline for petitions from individuals to be submitted was 23rd May.
