Caroline petitions for HS2 construction works compensation

Caroline Spelman, MP for Meriden Constituency is concerned that many residents blighted by over five years of construction works will be severely affected without any compensation.

This is why Mrs Spelman is now petitioning the Select Committee on the lack of compensation for those affected by construction works. Her constituency will be significantly and directly affected by over five years of construction around the first interchange station outside London.

Mrs Spelman said: “In the recent debate on the HS2 Hybrid Bill the Rail Minister suggested in response to me that I could petition the Select Committee on the lack of compensation for construction works. My constituency is significantly and directly affected by over five years of construction around the first interchange station outside London.

“Any resident who will be affected by the construction can email me at caroline@carolinespelman.com and I will let them have more details about the petitioning process and the petition itself.

“Already some of my constituents have let me know just how they will be affected and I’d like to encourage others who will be affected to also let me know. The more detail we can include in the petition, the better.”
